This lamp is made from slip cast porcelain using an 8-part plaster mold. Tripe is smelly, slimy, and hard to work with, but it’s honeycomb patterning is complex and beautiful. I wanted to re-imagine the delicate nature of porcelain through tripe by creating a mold with multiple undercuts and flashing pieces. As the slip cast method is often used for perfect replicas, I made sure that every cast would produce a slightly different outcome.
